Australian Capital Territory · Road Rules Knowledge Test · ACT licence rules

You hold an ACT learner licence and are driving on a road signposted at 100 km/h. What is the fastest you may legally drive?

The answer

  • 80 km/h
  • 90 km/h
  • 100 km/h — the posted limit Correct
  • Learners may not drive on roads above 80 km/h

Why that's the answer

ACT learner and provisional licence holders may drive to the posted speed limit — the ACT sets no lower cap for novice drivers, unlike NSW (90 km/h for learners) or the NT (80 km/h). If you drive interstate as an ACT learner you must obey that jurisdiction's novice limits, which are usually lower.
