Western Australia · Theory Test (CTT) · Road rules

When may you move back into the lane after overtaking?

The answer

  • Only after 200 metres
  • As soon as you are past the other vehicle's front bumper
  • Once you are safely clear of the vehicle you overtook Correct
  • Immediately, to minimise time on the wrong side

Why that's the answer

You must ensure you are safely clear of the vehicle or vehicles you have overtaken before moving back into line. Cutting back in early is one of the most common causes of overtaking crashes.
