When may you cross a single continuous (unbroken) centre line in WA?

The answer

  • To turn right, make a U-turn or avoid an obstruction with a clear view - but not to overtake another vehicle Correct
  • Whenever you want to overtake a slower vehicle
  • Never, under any circumstances
  • Whenever the road ahead is clear for 100 metres

Why that's the answer

You must not cross a continuous centre line to overtake a vehicle. You may only cross it to turn right, make a U-turn or avoid an obstruction when you have a clear view of approaching traffic (and, as a specific exception, to safely give a cyclist the required passing distance).
