You are approaching the crest of a hill on a country road and want to overtake. What does Drive Safe require?

The answer

  • Sound your horn, then overtake
  • Do not overtake - you must not overtake near a blind bend or crest, or wherever you lack a clear view ahead Correct
  • Overtake only if the centre line is broken
  • Overtake quickly before you reach the crest

Why that's the answer

You must not overtake when nearing a blind bend or the crest of a hill, or anywhere you do not have a good view of the road ahead. A broken centre line does not make an overtake safe if you cannot see what is coming.
