What is the general seatbelt rule in Queensland?

The answer

  • Belts are optional under 40 km/h
  • Only the driver must be belted
  • Only front-seat occupants must be belted
  • Everyone in a vehicle must wear a fastened seatbelt at all times Correct

Why that's the answer

Everyone in a vehicle must wear a fastened seatbelt at all times. The exceptions are narrow: the driver while reversing, a current medical certificate, frequent door-to-door delivery work at no more than 25 km/h, and vehicles originally built without seatbelts.
