Queensland · PrepL Road Rules Test · Give way

You are on the road that ends at a T-intersection. A vehicle on the continuing road is facing a GIVE WAY sign. Must you give way to it?

The answer

  • Only if it has already stopped
  • Yes — the continuing road always has priority
  • No — you do not have to give way to that vehicle, but you must still give way to pedestrians crossing the road you are entering Correct
  • Yes, unless you are turning left

Why that's the answer

Normally the terminating road gives way to the continuing road. But if the vehicle on the continuing road is itself facing a STOP or GIVE WAY sign, you do not have to give way to it. You must still give way to any pedestrian, bicycle or personal mobility device rider crossing the road you are entering.
