New South Wales · Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) · Road rules

Must you give way to pedestrians when turning at a roundabout?

The answer

  • Always, in every case
  • Only where there is a pedestrian crossing Correct
  • Never — roundabouts are for vehicles
  • Only if they are already on the road

Why that's the answer

When turning left or right at a roundabout you do not have to give way to pedestrians unless there is a pedestrian crossing. You must still always drive so you can avoid a collision, and you must never endanger anyone on foot.
