New South Wales · Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) · Road rules

You need to change lanes while on a multi-lane roundabout. What applies?

The answer

  • Lane changing is never allowed on a roundabout
  • You must indicate and give way to any vehicle in that lane, and may only cross a broken white line Correct
  • You may change freely — roundabout traffic has right of way
  • You must stop first, then change lanes

Why that's the answer

If you need to change lanes on a roundabout you must indicate and give way to any vehicle already in the lane you are moving into, and you can only change where there is a broken white line. You must also follow the direction of any arrows marked on the road.
