According to ACT guidance, when is a child ready to move from a booster seat to an adult seatbelt?

The answer

  • When they are at least 145 cm tall and pass the 5-step test Correct
  • As soon as they turn 7, regardless of their size
  • When they can see out of the side window
  • When they start primary school

Why that's the answer

Age alone is not enough - the suggested minimum height for using an adult seatbelt is 145 cm, and the child should meet the 5-step test. A seatbelt that does not fit properly cannot protect a child in a crash.
