Unless a parking sign says otherwise, how close to an intersection may you legally stop or park in Tasmania?

The answer

  • No closer than 15 metres from any intersection
  • No closer than 10 metres — or 20 metres if the intersection has traffic lights Correct
  • Right up to the corner, as long as you are off the road
  • No closer than 5 metres from any intersection

Why that's the answer

You must not stop or park within 10 metres of an intersection without traffic lights, or within 20 metres of an intersection with traffic lights. Parking too close blocks sight lines for turning drivers and pedestrians.
