Australian Capital Territory · Road Rules Knowledge Test · Intersections

You are turning right at an intersection without traffic lights or arrows. Who must you give way to?

The answer

  • Oncoming vehicles going straight ahead or turning left Correct
  • No one, if you arrived at the intersection first
  • Only other vehicles that are also turning right
  • Vehicles waiting behind you

Why that's the answer

A driver turning right must give way to oncoming vehicles that are going straight ahead or turning left. Arriving first does not give you priority when turning right across oncoming traffic.
