Australian Capital Territory · Road Rules Knowledge Test · Road rules

How can you tell whether an ACT school zone limit is in force right now?

The answer

  • The lower part of the sign swings up or down - when it is open, the zone limit applies at the times and days shown on it Correct
  • A flashing light on the sign is lit
  • It applies whenever children are visible near the road
  • It is always in force, every day of the year

Why that's the answer

ACT school zone signs are built to be opened and closed: the lower panel swings up or down. Open means the zone limit applies at the times and days shown on the sign; closed means it does not, and the normal default applies.
